Mental Health Respite Program

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre Mid North Coast, Mental Health Respite Program provides support to carers of people with a mental illness, and support to family, carers and children at risk of developing a mental illness.

Who can access this Service?

To be eligible to receive respite services under this program Carers must be:

  • Caring for, or likely to be caring for 6 months or longer
  • Providing regular assistance and/or supervision with activities such as self care, communication or mobility 
  • Not in receipt other respite services
  • Aim of the program is to provide a range of support services that improve a person's mental health

What the Program Provides:

  • Flexible short term or planned respite to give the Carer a break
  • Respite in times of crisis or emergency when the Carer is no longer able to continue with their caring role
  • A link to other services who can assist the Carer or the care recipient
  • Respite which is responsive to the needs of both the Carer and the person they care for
  • Improved access to ongoing services where available
